The That Is Us Season 4 finale brought all the feels. Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Kevin (Justin Hartley) finally had that fight we understood was brewing, but it was worse than anyone ever anticipated. There were so many digs and low blows that lovers aren’t sure it will be fully recovered from by the brothers. Some people state Kevin took it too much, but others state it was Randall.
Many fans sense Randall went too far in the’That Is Us’ Season 4 finale
“You’ll never understand what it is like to devote yourself to anyone besides yourself,” Randall told Kevin throughout the last five minutes of this episode. “And you’ll pretend, but it is going to just be a performance, a tired, stale performance, such as all of your performances”
Randall also tells Kevin that their father, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia), died ashamed of Kevin. There were several fighting words later Kevin discovered that Randall was the one who persuaded their mother.
“He’s made it abundantly clear he hasn’t really had an iota of real esteem for Kevin, even after ALL the times Kevin was there for him” another fan added.
Fans think Kevin was just reacting to Randall’s remarks
“You know, I used to believe the worst thing that occurred to me was that the day that Dad died,” Kevin tells Randall. “It’s the day they brought you home. Hand to God, Randall, the worst thing that ever happened to me was the day that they brought you home.”
Kevin responded to what Randall stated and came out with the worst possible thing he can say. The man said he wished he didn’t have a brother. He told Randall that when he had been there, he would have rescued their father.
“It seemed that Kevin regretted what he said pretty much right away,” one fan commented. “I think Randall meant what he said, but Kevin was only hoping to hurt after being hurt.”
Although fans shared that Kevin’s words were very hurtful, many agree that his words were a retaliation.
“Kevin was mostly reacting, I believe,” added another enthusiast. “He was just really actually sterile in the temptations of what Randall had done along with the fact that he didn’t own up to it, which is entirely understandable. It was still an incredibly low blow that he gave ultimately, but only once 100% goaded into it.”
Many agree that both brothers went too far in the’This Is Us’ Season 4 finale
“Randall and Kevin both are showing their behinds right now,” wrote one enthusiast on Twitter. “Jack would not have approved of some of the.”
Both brothers said items they will hopefully repent afterwards. Fans believe they were both harsh, and both might never return from this fight.
“Those phrases between Randall and Kevin really felt like a punch in the gut to me,” added another viewer. “Wow. Really unpleasant. There’s no coming back out of that. Their relationship won’t ever be the same.”
“Exactly,” wrote another Redditor. “It hurt to hear them say those things to each other. Just dreadful. And you could tell at the end which they could still not be remotely close based on the awkwardness of that greeting if he walked in.”
In the end of this episode, we watched another flash forward. The two greeted each other at their mother’s bedside, but it isn’t clear whether or not it was heartfelt.
“I agree I think that these two closing jabs at each other we’re on the same level,” wrote another enthusiast. “They obtained at the thing that the other one was sensitive about.”
