Kyle Newman has fired back at estranged wife Jaime King, claiming in court documents she is a”chronic drug addict and alcoholic.”

Newman, 44, asserted in court documents filed Friday morning and acquired by Page Six the”Hart of Dixie” actress, 41,”refuses to acknowledge that she has a issue, let alone seek out meaningful remedy for such issue.”

He further alleges she abused opiates until both children — James, 6, and Leo, 4 — were born throughout her pregnancies, resulting in Leo”being born addicted to opiates.”

The documents also claim that King spent 10 months hoping to wean herself off the opiates under medical supervision, but ultimately relapsed in January 2020 and started”drinking even more heavily.”

Newman claims on Jan. 12, 2020, he and 14 of King’s closest friends staged an intervention.

King supposedly checked into a rehabilitation facility in Utah but, shortly after coming, checked herself out from professional advice.

Newman asserts in February, when King had to relocate to Canada for work, their sons seen her, only to be blown off because she had been”too busy” He asserts she later admitted to having an affair.

Newman additionally testified at King’s”insistence,” the children were to remain with him and his loved ones in Pennsylvania during the pandemic, only for her to become”inconsistent” and claim in court records she registered earlier this week that he had kidnapped them.

King filed for divorce earlier this week and was granted a temporary restraining order, but her emergency motion related to child custody and visitation was refused.

Newman is requesting the court grant him temporary primary physical custody of their kids with visitation for King. Currently, they share joint legal custody. He also wants King to submit to drug and alcohol testing, such as prescription pills.

He also wants King to be ordered to complete a parenting class.

A source tells Page Six that the long-term physical custody status of the kids will be determined in a future hearing, but they will stay with Newman at Pennsylvania for now; they are under no obligation to return to LA.

In response to this latest activity, King’s rep told Page Six,”This is another vicious, failed attempt of Kyle to keep his abuse of Jaime and manipulate the courtroom. Today Kyle was denied all requests for emergency orders and the judge awarded shared legal custody of the two children to Jaime. The temporary domestic violence restraining order remains in place to protect Jaime.”

Newman and King tied the knot in November 2007.
